The preliminary round of the HICOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition was launched on July 15 in Shunyi district, Beijing.

It is the third session since the first HICOOL competition took place in 2020. The competition is divided into four stages: online assessment, preliminary round, semi-final, and final, with total prize money of 100 million yuan ($14.8 million).

Yu Haijiao, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Talent Work, said at the launching ceremony that the HICOOL platform is dedicated to enabling each entrepreneur to fully display their innovation.

According to Yu, HICOOL also serves as an all-in-one startup ecosystem that includes the competition and summit, an industrial park, a service manager, an investment fund, the HICOOL@ONLINE Digital platform, and a business college.

Shunyi district will take the HICOOL competition as an opportunity to optimize the innovation and entrepreneurship ecology, improve the construction of supporting facilities, and create a livable living environment, said Fang Jie, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Shunyi District Committee.

Dong Jinghong, head of the headquarters talent center of Shunyi district, introduced the talent and entrepreneurial project support policies for the HICOOL competition, covering project landing, housing rent, and financial support.

Wu Zaiying, a partner of Beijing Amphora Venture Capital, shared some impressions as a judge of the competition. It is a professional, fair, and principled competition with carefully selected judges, a reasonable evaluation mechanism, and sound rules, Wu said.

Fu Lin, founder of Illume Research, an award-winning project last year focused ontechnologically advanced education, thought highly ofHICOOL, saying that it truly considers the needs of entrepreneurs and tries every means to satisfy them.

Adhering to the concept of “All for Startups”, HICOOL helps startups settle and grow smoothly in Beijing throughout the whole process of entrepreneurship. Its preliminary competition will also be held in Beijing’s Xicheng, Daxing , and Pinggu districts, and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-town) with a focus on their advantageous industries.
