Dongxing Border Economic Cooperation Zone was established in 1992 with the approval of the State Council, and is one of the key industrial parks under Guangxi's economic development plan on the Beibu Gulf.

Covering a planning area of 4.07 square kilometers, the zone has a coastal line of 50 kilometers and a landline of 27.5 kilometers. It has good geographical advantages and favorable policies.

The zone is home to 56 enterprises, 16 of which are above-scale companies. The Jiangping industrial park has a planning area of 757.05 hectares, focusing on resource processing for food, seafood and redwood. The Jiangping industrial park has 45 enterprises, 12 of which are above-scale companies.

In 2015, the above-scale industrial output value of the zone reached 8.83 billion yuan ($1.31billion), accounting for 69 percent of the city's total, up 23.6 percent year-on-year. The tax revenue hit 590 million yuan, up 7.2 percent year-on-year.
