Weinan National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was founded in 1988 and upgraded to a national-level high-tech zone by the State Council in September 2010.

Covering 49 square kilometers, the zone is located at the eastern part of Shaanxi province, north to the Weihe River and south to the Qinling Mountains.

Relying on its geographic advantages, rich natural resources and the open market environment, the zone consists of six industrial parks in areas of engineering machinery, electronics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, fine chemicals, new material production and agricultural and sideline products processing.

In recent years, the zone has been aiming to build itself into a national-class innovative industrial park and focusing on improving its overall competitiveness.

It has been awarded with titles such as “High-Tech Industrial Base for New Materials”, “ Innovative Development Base for 3D Printing Technology in Medical Sector”, and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for High-level Talents in Shaanxi Province”.

From January to September in 2018, the gross industrial output value of the zone reached 13.44 billion yuan ($1.99 billion), up 20.2 percent year-on-year. The output value of fine chemicals, equipment manufacturing and new energy grew by 12.2 percent, 44.4 percent and 55.5 percent respectively. The total operating income of the zone hit 25.4 billion yuan, an annual increase of 18.4 percent.
