The Bole Border Economic Cooperative Zone is located in Bole city, Bortala Mongol autonomous prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. It was set up at the end of 1992 after receiving approval from the State Council with a planned area of 7.83 square kilometers.

Targeting both the international and domestic markets, the cooperative zone focuses on the development of six major industries, including textile and garment, import and export processing, new building materials and bonded warehousing and logistics. It aims to be an open industrial zone that covers the domestic market and radiates to the Central Asian markets. As of December 9, 2018, some 28 companies had settled in the cooperative zone. Its industrial output from January to October in 2018 reached 809 million yuan ($119.75 million).

The cooperative zone will take the opportunity of the Belt and Road initiative to improve its infrastructure and accelerate its industrial upgrading to develop an export-oriented economy, introducing labor-intensive companies in the sector of textiles and garments as well as the processing of the agriculture and sideline products to improve local employment.
