With a planning area of 2.07 square kilometers, Taicang Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone passed State Council inspection in September 2014 and now has 0.85 sq km in operation.

The zone has been giving full play to the geographic location of Taicang Port, the biggest port for foreign trade in Jiangsu province. The zone mainly focuses on the development of bonded processing and logistics, and other bonded services.

The zone aims to become an international logistics center featuring international purchasing, bonded warehousing and distribution; a trade service center managing cross-border electronic commerce, international trade, machinery and high-end consumer goods; and also, a research and development center for bonded processing, design, examination and repair.

Currently, the zone has a total warehouse area of 100,000 sq meters, hosting 13 companies in bonded logistics and more than 200 companies offering supporting services such as trade, logistics and transport.

In 2017, the bonded zone made $354 million in foreign trade. In the first 10 months of 2018, the number hit $510 million, up 86 percent year-on-year.
