Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta in Dongying, Shandong province was founded in October 2015 under the approval of the State Council. Covering an area of 350 square kilometers and with a permanent resident population of 60,000, it was the second national-level agricultural hi-tech industry demonstration zone in the country.

The demonstration area is in the suburbs of Dongying city, between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Jiaodong Peninsula, and sits at the center of the Bohai Economic Circle.

The Rongcheng-Wuhai and Changchun-Shenzhen expressways join up there. The Bohai Rim High-speed Railway, the eastern line of the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, and the Dezhou-Dajiawa and Huanghua-Dajiawa railways pass through the area. It is also close to Dongying and Guangli ports.

In accordance with its development demands, since its founding the area has focused on five industries: modern seeds, functional agriculture, intelligent equipment manufacturing, high-end agricultural services and cultural tourism.

In 2017, its regional GDP reached 6.5 billion yuan ($942.10 million). Total industrial output value was 25.43 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent. Fixed-asset investment totaled 5.28 billion yuan, with a yearly growth rate of 7.9 percent from 2016.
