Tech workers are increasingly opting to build their careers at companies in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, with a recent report revealing that the zone now has more than 2,100 tech firms employing over 100,000 people.

The announcement was made during the fourth Optics Valley Internet + Innovation Development Conference held on Jan 5.

In 2018, internet firms based in the zone managed to raise over 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion) in finance, demonstrating their attractiveness to investors and future potential.

In addition, since 2015, more than 60 big-name internet companies have set up their "second headquarters" in Optics Valley, including Xiaomi, iFLYTEK, and Xiaohongshu, providing tens of thousands of new job opportunities for skilled workers.

And it seems that the zone's tech sector is going to have ample room for future growth, with Liu Ziqing, director of the administrative committee of Optics Valley promising to build a new digital economy industrial park in the zone.
