The Xi’an High-tech Industrial Development Zone, one of the top such zones nationally, achieved great progress in 2018 and will continue its effort in 2019 to become one of the best zones in China.

Wang said at the press conference held on Jan 7 that the projects introduced into the zone set a new record both in quantity and quality.

“The zone got large room for development in 2018 by demolition of 66 villages and the all-round requisition agreement of 50,000 mu (3,333 hectares), and has started construction of 138 roads,” Wang said.

In 2018, the high-tech zone successfully managed 263 villages in 10 towns (streets) of Yanta District, Chang'an District and Huyi District. It is advancing the trusteeship work of 26 villages in two towns of Zhouzhi County. In this way, the planned area of the zone will be enlarged to 1,079 square kilometers, and the managed population will exceed 1 million.

Wang said that his zone will continue the effort in 2019 to further promote the development of the zone with eight breakthrough projects and 100 breakthrough items.

Wang detailed the breakthrough projects and their items, which include an innovation drive to accelerate the cultivation and enhancement of new kinetic energy, construction of a modern industrial system to further promote advanced manufacturing industries such as electronic information, new energy vehicles and biomedicine as well as productive services and cultural creativity.

The projects also focus on bettering people’s livelihoods by sharing development achievements among all citizens and improving the level of health care in an all-round way, Wang said.
