Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone

Set up in November 1992 with approval from the State Council, Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone is located at the geometric center of Qingdao city. With five industrial parks, 36 communities and a population of 83,000, the zone covers an area of 327.76 square kilometers.

Targeting the blue, high-end and emerging economies, the zone emphasizes the development of science and technology services, including information and software technology, biological medicine, marine engineering equipment, the intelligent manufacturing of high-end equipment, environmental protection and new materials. 

In the first half of 2018, the zone made 4.78 billion yuan ($694 million) in GDP, an increase of 11.9 percent year-on-year. Its 28 projects were new additions to the list of Qingdao's key projects.
