Xinxiang Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was established in 1992 and elevated to the national level in 2012. Covering an area of 52 square kilometers, the zone is home to a population of 110,000.  

It is a provincial demonstration base for industrial transformation, a pilot cluster of digitalized industries, and an incubation center for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The development zone features four pillar industries, namely new energy vehicles, life sciences and biological technology, big data, and aviation engineering.

To date, the zone has registered a total of 2,989 enterprises, 87 of which are above designated scale, meaning they have  annual sales of more than 5 million yuan ($744,371). It is also home to two national startup incubators, 38 certified hi-tech companies, and nine national R&D facilities. In 2017, the zone ranked 57th among all the national industrial development zones in terms of patent filing and technological creativity.

The 2017 statistics show that the zone’s annual GDP was 12.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.7 percent. The added value of enterprises over designated scale totaled 7.91 billion yuan, up 10.1 percent compared with the previous year.
