Guangzhou Nansha Bonded Port Area is located in the southeast of Guangzhou Nansha Development Zone. It was established in October 2008 and is divided into three functional areas: a port area, a logistics area, and a processing area. In July 2009, the first phase of Nansha Bonded Port Area, stretching 3.7 square kilometers, passed the national inspection and acceptance. It officially began operation at the end of 2009.

As the core of the Nansha area of the Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone, Nansha Bonded Port Area (Phase I) has expanded its business model and development scale. Currently, it has carried out various business models, such as bonded warehousing, international entrepot trade, international procurement distribution, international transit, production and processing, and port operations. There are more than 1,000 registered enterprises in the bonded port area, and shipping logistics has promoted the development of the surrounding economy.

In the first half of 2018, the value of bonded goods in Nansha Bonded Port Area was 23 billion yuan ($3.4 billion), a year-on-year increase of 12 percent. Among them, the value of overseas entry and exit areas was 11.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent, and the bonded online shopping imports was 4.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 74 percent, accounting for 72 percent of the total import value of Nansha Bonded Port Area.
