Updated: 2019-01-17

Keqiao Economic Development Zone was established in Keqiao, Zhejiang province, in September 1992, and in October 2012, it was upgraded to a State-level economic and technological development zone with the approval of the State Council. With an area of 41 square kilometers and a population of about 110,000, the zone had attracted more than 2,500 enterprises, including 210 enterprises above designated size by 2017.

The development zone is the pioneer area for the economic development of Keqiao district. Located in the prosperous Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo economic belt in the Yangtze River Delta area, it is 20 minutes’ drive from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, one hour from Ningbo and two hours from Shanghai. The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo railway, 104 national highway and Zhedong Grand Canal run through the area.

The district focuses on the development of high-tech industries with low land occupation and high productive efficiency, such as auto parts manufacturing, electronic appliances, mechatronics, and new energy basic materials. Many high-quality enterprises have been attracted to the zone, contributing 35 percent to the total regional industrial output value.

In 2018, the development zone signed 18 projects with contract value above 500 million yuan ($73.89 million), of which three are worth more than 5 billion yuan.
