Fuqing Rongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the south of Golden Triangle Economic Circle at Minjiang Estuary in Fuqing, Fujian province – the nearest region from Chinese mainland to Taiwan.

Founded in 1987, the zone received approval from the State Council as the 19th national-level zone of its kind in 1992 with a planned area of 14.26 square kilometers. It is composed of four parts: Qibu area, Hongkuan area, a photoelectric industrial park and the southern area.

By the end of 2017, a total of 85 firms with an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan ($14.7 million) were based in the zone, including Jielian Electronic, Fenan Group and Fuyao Grass. These firms are mainly involved in the industries of information technology, electrical machinery, metal, plastics, automotive parts and optical instruments.

In 2017, 140 firms above designated size in the zone realized an output value of 95.8 billion yuan, completed investment in industrial fixed assets of 24.9 billion yuan, and accumulated foreign investment of $150 million.
