Benxi High-tech Industrial Development Area

Benxi High-tech Industrial Development Area, located at the junction of Shenyang and Benxi, was founded in 2010. It is 30 kilometers away from Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, and 20 km away from Benxi. With a total land area of 176 square kilometers, it focuses mainly on the development of life and health industries centering on bio-pharmaceuticals. It was upgraded into a national high-tech industrial development area approved by the State Council in 2012.

In the first half of 2017, the region's GDP reached 4.46 billion yuan ($642.45 million), an increase of 11.1 percent year-on-year. The added value of industries above the designated scale achieved almost 3.49 billion yuan, a rise of 19.79 percent year-on-year. Revenue from the public finance budget was 910 million yuan, up 17.4 percent year-on-year. Fixed asset investment totaled 8.55 billion yuan, a growth of 10.9 percent year-on-year. The region earned 15.48 billion yuan in sales revenue in pharmacy, up 36.14 percent year-on-year, and received financing of 1.06 billion yuan.
