Guangxi ASEAN Economic and Technological Development Zone (GAETDZ) is located in Wuming district, only 30 kilometers away from downtown Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Established in March 2004, it was upgraded to a national development zone and renamed on March 2, 2013.

It was listed as a national demonstration pilot zone for circular economy reform in 2015.

GAETDZ consists of the Comprehensive Industrial Park, Nanning Education Park, Cultural Tourism and Recreation Zone and Modern Agricultural Demonstration Zone.

It is an important carrier of the China-ASEAN Expo and one of the 14 key industrial parks in Guangxi's Beibu Gulf Economic Rim. It is the core area for Nanning to promote industrialization and urbanization.

Occupying an area of 180 square kilometers (all State-owned land), the zone has a population of 85,000, which is planned to reach 470,000 in 2030.

GAETDZ incorporated Wuming Overseas Chinese Farm (established in 1960) and Nanning Overseas Chinese Investment Area (established in 1990). It is a demonstration area for the transformation of overseas Chinese farms.

It has formed pillar industries including food processing and supporting industries, bio-pharmaceutical, machinery manufacturing and other emerging industries.

As of Dec 20, 2017, the zone achieved a total financial revenue of 1,157.36 million yuan, an increase of 107.51 million yuan (10.24 percent) over the previous year, during which the yearly target was met 11 days in advance.
